This differentiated English grammar resource gives Year 6 and upper-primary learners structured practice in identifying active and passive voice and rewriting sentences from one voice to the other. 🔺 Triangle level
The Triangle worksheet provides the greatest level of support. Pupils begin by identifying whether eight sentences use active or passive voice. They then convert four active sentences into passive voice and four passive sentences into active voice.
This level contains 16 sentence-level tasks.
⭕ Circle level
The Circle worksheet removes the introductory identification activity and concentrates on sentence transformation. Pupils convert active sentences into passive voice, convert passive sentences into active voice and complete a mixed set requiring them to identify and use the opposite voice.
This level contains 11 sentence-level tasks.
⬜ Square level
The Square worksheet provides the greatest challenge. Pupils rewrite six mixed active and passive sentences, including a passive sentence in which the person performing the action is not stated. They then rewrite a complete paragraph, changing active sentences into passive voice where appropriate.
An example paragraph answer is provided, while allowing for other grammatically suitable responses.
