Year 5 Past Perfect Tense – Differentiated English Grammar Worksheets with Answers

Help pupils understand and use the past perfect tense confidently

This differentiated Year 5 English resource helps pupils recognise, form and use the past perfect tense to show that one action happened before another action in the past. Pupils practise the structure had + past participle through sentence completion, matching, grammatical identification, sentence rewriting and an extended paragraph activity.

The resource provides three clearly differentiated levels, making it easy to select an appropriate worksheet for each learner or support progression towards increasingly independent grammatical application.
