🔺 Triangle – supported level
Pupils begin with a reminder explaining that -er can be used to compare two things and -est to compare more than two. Activities include completing a word table, selecting the correctly spelt word from pairs, choosing the appropriate form to complete sentences and writing sentences with supplied words.
⭕ Circle – developing level
Learners complete an -er and -est table without the introductory reminder, identify correct spellings within complete sentences and independently use four supplied comparative or superlative adjectives in sentences.
⬜ Square – extension level
Pupils apply the spelling patterns to words including heavy, noisy, scary, thin and hot. They then identify and rewrite complete sentences containing incorrect suffix spellings before producing their own sentences independently.
