Year 3 Statutory Spelling Words – Set 2 Worksheets (988-990)
This Year 3 Statutory Spelling Words – Set 2 worksheet pack helps children practise key words from the official Year 3/4 statutory spelling list. The National Curriculum spelling appendix identifies the Year 3 and 4 word list as statutory, making these spellings an important part of Lower Key Stage 2 English teaching.
The set focuses on commonly misspelled statutory words including centre, century, circle, complete, consider, continue, decide, describe, different, difficult, disappear and early. These words are useful for building spelling confidence, improving vocabulary and helping Year 3 pupils apply accurate spelling in their own writing.
The worksheet pack includes three differentiated levels:
Triangle Level supports pupils with multiple-choice spelling practice, matching words to simple clues and completing sentences using the correct statutory spelling word.
Circle Level gives children more sentence-based practice by asking them to choose the correct spelling in context, complete cloze sentences from a word bank and write their own sentences using selected words.
Square Level provides extra challenge by asking pupils to identify incorrect spellings within full sentences, write the correct spelling and apply the words independently in their own writing.
The worksheets are designed to be clear, printable and easy to use, with child-friendly tasks, a helpful “Remember” box, QR video support and full answer sheets included. The activities in this pack include spelling choices, clue matching, sentence completion, error spotting and independent sentence writing.
This resource is especially useful for Year 3 pupils who are beginning to secure the Lower KS2 statutory spelling list. It can be used for classroom spelling lessons, homework, morning work, small group intervention, tutoring or revision. It also supports early preparation for later KS2 spelling expectations and SATs-style English work, as accurate spelling and vocabulary knowledge are important foundations for writing, grammar and punctuation.
For Australian learners, this worksheet set can also support NAPLAN-style language conventions practice. NAPLAN conventions of language tests assess spelling, grammar and punctuation, and NAPLAN is taken by pupils in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. This makes the resource particularly useful for Year 3 pupils building spelling accuracy and confidence.
