Year 3 Prefixes Worksheet (733-735)

£1.00

This Year 3 prefixes worksheet set helps pupils understand how prefixes can be added to the beginning of root words to change their meaning. The activities focus on common prefixes including un-, re-, mis- and dis-, giving children repeated practice with both word building and word meaning.

The worksheets are differentiated across three levels, making them ideal for homework, classroom practice, revision or small-group support. Children begin by adding prefixes to familiar root words, then move on to matching prefix words to their meanings, completing sentences using the correct prefix word and writing their own sentences.

This set is designed to support Year 3 grammar and spelling work while also developing vocabulary and sentence-writing confidence. It is suitable for KS2 pupils and can also be useful for targeted support, catch-up work or extra practice at home.

This resource includes:

Triangles – Support Level
Children add
un-, re- or mis- to root words, match prefix words to simple meanings and write sentences using words such as unhelpful, unkind, untidy and unhappy.

Circles – Core Level
Children match prefix words such as disagree, reheat, misunderstand, unlock, disappear and misplace to their meanings. They then complete sentences using the correct word and write their own sentences.

Squares – Challenge Level
Children complete sentences using prefix words such as rewrite, dishonest, misunderstand, disconnect, misplace and disappear. They also explain the meaning of prefix words and write their own sentences independently.
