Year 3 Prefixes super-, anti- and auto- Worksheets

£1.00

Support Year 3 pupils as they learn to recognise, understand and use the prefixes super-, anti- and auto- with this clear and engaging worksheet set.

Children practise how prefixes can change the meaning of root words, with a focus on common words such as supermarket, superstar, superpower, antifreeze, antiseptic, antibacterial, automatic, autopilot, autocorrect and autograph. The activities help pupils build confidence with spelling, vocabulary, word meanings and sentence construction.

The worksheets are differentiated into three levels:

Triangles

The first worksheet focuses on recognising and sorting words with the prefixes super-, anti- and auto-. Pupils circle the prefix in each word, sort words into the correct prefix group and complete simple sentences using the correct word.

Circles

The second worksheet gives pupils more practice applying their understanding. Children add the correct prefix to complete words, match words to their meanings and choose the correct word to complete each sentence.

Squares

The third worksheet provides a greater level of challenge. Pupils choose words from a word bank, write the correct word for each meaning and then use selected prefix words correctly in their own sentences.

This resource is ideal for classroom spelling lessons, homework, intervention groups, independent practice or revision. It also works well as preparation for spelling, grammar and vocabulary expectations in KS2 SATs, as well as NAPLAN-style spelling and language conventions practice.
